Notice of Nomination of Volunteer Officers
Nominations by Petition
Nominations may also be made by petition signed by 500 members of the credit union per nominee. There shall be no petitions by proxy, nor may members sign blank petitions (candidates name omitted). All signatures are subject to proper validation by procedures approved by the secretary of the credit union. Each nominee by petition shall submit the following:
- A brief statement of qualifications and biographical data in a form approved by the Board of Directors with the petition. A petition form can be requested by emailing ComplianceDept@alabamaone.org or by contacting our Compliance & Risk Department at (800) 225-0110.
- Nominations by petition must be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee stating that he or she is agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office.
The deadline for filing nominations by petition with the secretary of the credit union shall be February 5, 2025, which is the deadline previously provided to our members. Nominations may be filed at the Main Office 1215 Veterans Memorial Parkway Tuscaloosa, AL 35404, Attention: Ron Abernathy, Board Secretary.
Nominations by the Board
The Board appointed the Corporate Governance Committee to act as the Nominating Committee. The committee met on January 16, 2025. The committee nominated Loo Whitfield, Ron Abernathy, and Scott Bobo to serve a 3-year term on the Board of Directors and Franklin Bohannon was nominated to serve a 3-year term on the Supervisory Committee. These nominees are currently serving as volunteers and are members of Alabama ONE. Information on each nominee is stated below:
Board of Director Nominations

Loo Whitfield
Loo graduated from the University of Alabama in 1972 with a B.S. degree in Health Physical Education and Recreation, and went on to obtain her Master of Arts degree in the same field. Loo retired from the Tuscaloosa City School System in 2004, where she worked for 27 years as an Athletic Administrator, Coach, and Health/Physical Education teacher for Central High School and Northridge High School. From 2005- 2015, she was the Director of Education and Workforce Development for the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, where she served as the Director of the Adopt-A-School Program that served the fifty-eight public schools in the Tuscaloosa City and County School Systems. Mrs. Whitfield retired from the Chamber of Commerce in 2015 and currently resides in Tuscaloosa. Loo is married to Gaius.

Ron Abernathy
Ron has served in law enforcement for the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office for more than 30 years. As the Elected Sheriff, he leads a team of 215 law enforcement professionals. Sheriff Abernathy is a resident of Tuscaloosa County and a University of Alabama graduate with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Leadership Tuscaloosa and Leadership Alabama.

Scott Bobo
Scott Bobo began working for Marshall-DeKalb Electric Cooperative in 1999 as the Director of Training and Environmental Compliance, later serving as Communications Director, Human Resources Director, Key Accounts, and in member services. He spent four years as the Assistant General Manager before being named General Manager in May 2017.
Mr. Bobo is a 1994 graduate of the University of West Alabama (formerly Livingston University), from which he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science.
Mr. Bobo was raised in Crossville, Alabama, is married to the former Christie Perry, and they have three daughters, Jaycie, Jayden, and Jesslyn.
Supervisory Committee Nominations

Franklin Bohannon
As a proud graduate of the University of Alabama and Troy State University, prior to retiring, Franklin served in many engineering roles within Michelin North America. He has also worked as a Strategic Investment Manager and Special Projects Facilitator - overseeing more than $60MM in expenditures. Mr. Bohannon resides in Birmingham. Franklin is married to Nancy
